Who is PolitiCrowd?

We are a team of young Portlanders with no time for apathy. We believe in building partnerships, empowering good ideas, and embracing new technology. When we looked at our government, we saw a desperate need for all of these things. So we created PolitiCrowd.

We have no hidden agenda. Our sole aim is to improve our political system and revitalize the spirit of American civic engagement. Are we idealistic? Yes. Are we naïve? No. We’ve done our homework, we know the challenges, and we know what we need to do.

Eric Wilson, Communications Consult

Prior to joining PolitiCrowd, Eric held communications positions in both the nonprofit and for-profit community. He’s written about everything from online philanthropy to consumer electronics, and balances a healthy freelance practice with his PolitiCrowd duties. Eric has a B.A. in English from Middlebury College, where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa with highest honors. When he’s not working, he plays piano and does crosswords.

Geoff Groner, Development Director

Geoff has been an advisor to PolitiCrowd since July 2012 before joining full time in 2013. Geoff got to know the local nonprofit scene while working for Ecotrust's E3 Network. He also collaborated with various non-profits and government agencies en route to a B.A. in Environmental Economics at Bates College. Geoff spends his free time hiking, biking, snowboarding, and playing soccer.

Paul Locker, Founder

Paul started building PolitiCrowd as a student at the University of San Diego. The idea grew from his longstanding involvement in politics combined with a love for entrepreneurial pursuits and creative problem solving. After graduating summa cum laude in May 2013, Paul has spent the Summer bringing PolitiCrowd to Portland.

Torben Noto, Director of Operations

Torben received his B.S. in Neuroscience from Bates College in May, 2013. While holding research positions at OHSU and Nike, he developed a keen ability to identify and solve problems, and hopes to bring similar insights to systems in politics. Off the clock, he enjoys learning to code, coaching lacrosse, and watching the Timbers.

Xinwei Wu, Business and Management Director

Xinwei joined PolitiCrowd to help create innovative solutions that benefit as many people as possible. She relishes the learning opportunities of working at a startup, and is proud to be a part of the PolitiCrowd team. Xinwei received her M.B.A. from Oregon State University after working as a technical consultant for a Chinese software company. She also holds a B.S. in mathematics.
